Lookin' Good, Spike

I'm really anxious about the upcoming episode about Spike. I promised myself he'll still be my favorite no matter how big he gets.
Or fat.
Or.... UGLY *runs away crying*

The story behind this is that Spike outgrows his bedbox and decides to make something of himself. He acquires an impressive rack of muscles while in basic training to become one of the castle's guards (this was a fun situation, because Snips and Snails had the same idea, and they went through training together!)
Though he kept in touch with Twilight and her friends, it was a complete shock to him when Rarity showed up in the castle one day for important fashion business. She didn't recognize him in his armor, and even if she had, he was on duty and conversation wasn't allowed.
Long story short, there was a terrible fire in the castle during Rarity's stay, and Spike was the one to rescue her. And of course I threw in a dramatic scene where he ended up nearly dead and in the hospital because the fire and collapsing building was too much even for his fireproof scales.

Spike becomes a promising member of EFD and he and Rarity make a future for themselves in Canterlot together. I never gave them children though. Even if it was genetically possible, they just didn't seem the type. (I wanted to make it a comic but Memory Lane just came first, I guess.)

I had way too much fun with this piece, and although I know there's loads of room for improvement, I'm pleased with it for the time being.
